After the invocation and just before the drivers meeting started, we welcomed a VERY special guest.....Guy Caputo!
As you may or may not know, Guy had a very nasty get off on his motorcycle back at the 1st meet of the year and just to see him here and mobile was truly INCREDIBLE! He told us that the human body has 206 bones and he broke 77 of his. He is walking with a walker but he IS mobile and he said everything is working albeit slowly. Again, just INCREDIBLE to see him here! I'm sorry but I did not have my camera with me so no pics of Guy.
Now on to other stuff:
The rain
"should" have been the MAJOR story for today. Instead, we were officially told by Tonya that this is the last meet for us here in Wilmington. The ECTA officials, Tonya, Keith, Kerri and Brian, are actively looking and have been in contact with several airports. Many folks, including myself, have given them suggestions. If any of you fine folks out there in internet land have a suggestion, please get in touch with any of the above folks.
Finally on to racing:
As stated, rain was the main issue till mid afternoon. Around 2:30 PM Keith gave the OK for cars and bikes up to 135 to run and folks started hot lapping. Around 4:30 PM, the track was completely dry and Keith opened the track to everyone.
As for tomorrow, just looked at the weather for tomorrow is supposed to be a 50% chance of the liquid stuff, so we'll see what happens.....Oh well!
