Quest For Knowledge; All Invited...
« on: September 14, 2016, 04:24:18 AM »
At an age of 85 years and 19 days, can anybody think of an older human being who has ever made a competitive timed trial at Bonneville or does Freud win the award?

Marty Dickerson is the only person I can think of that would come close to that. But I am not sure what his age was when he last made a pass about 3 (??) years ago. He set a record on Mal Hewitts Vincent perhaps 2012, or 2013. I think I was told he was in his mid 80's though.
Either way. Well done, and hats off. As the kids would say "nuff respek".

IIRC John Fitch was well along in years, not sure exactly how many, when he ran the Gull Wing coupe a few years ago.

The important fact is we never grow up, just have more fun with the toys!

The concept of Freud "growing up" is alien, it appears to me.  Of course -- I kinda think I'm similarly afflicted, so how would I know?

Corngratulations no matter what.  So someone tell me the details -- what'd the old fart ride/drive? :-D :?

Not sure, but we still have "One Last 49er" amongst us.
Duane McKinney was at the 1st Speed Week event and probably has broken more records then anybody alive. I know he was at this year's Speed Week event and I seem to remember, him breaking another record with his Corvette.
What a Great Guy !!

Alex Xydias would be another "49er" who's still alive and kickin'.

Duane was 15 in '49 - he came up with his cousin (didn't drive a race car).

What about Gene Winfield?  I thought he was 86 years old in 2013 when he last ran at Bonneville.
