Saltgremlin, please tell me -- why are you on this Forum?  I honestly don't see how you are showing your interest in land speed racing, so please - either get with the program and shut the heck up with your complaints - or find another location to hassle.

We're here to race.

Those Kitchen photos on the SCTA website sure are nice.  There is rain coming out of some of those clouds and it evaporates before it gets down to the ground.

SSS,

One thing I learned from my father, and my other mentors throughout my lifetime:

A/   "Those who can, do."

2/   "Those who can't, or won't, criticize."

d/   It doesn't take a brain to be critical, only a mouth . . . . .    (my thought)

Saltgremlin,

If you can help, you should.    Realize though, that there is a process to being "accepted".    That is just the way it is.   New ideas/processes require time for the "old reliable" procedure to be supplanted.     I, personally, think that it would take about 10 minutes for a re-incarnated Egyptian woodworker to start using a table saw.

It took you more than 10 minutes to type your "critiques".     Your choice about what to do going forward.    I hope to someday meet you, with you working as the timing volunteer who revolutionized the record posting system.

Best regards,
Fordboy,   AKA:  Mark Balinski Sr.

Right  Steve... Such a genius idea, and maybe a misery link to timing system with flawless ease. Right, right, on it. Guess someone needs to 'flap their lips'.

It's like stirring the pot, no one likes it, but I'm going to go right ahead and do it anyhow.

Yea gremlins.... But corroborated properly well in advance, very enjoyable things could happen.

It's not the sixties or eighties anymore. TRY 2016, and the things that can happing with the 'right people involved'. Could be pretty awesome!

Happing????? Is that a new 2016 word we fossils  have yet to discover/learn?.

Well when it's NOT really open information regarding what proprietary timing hardware/software is being used...  I'd personally love to review what is being used. Again we are in the 21st, the ability to even export/import a simple .csv file.

Some information on the timing system used, or a timing system used in the past, is here:http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/2010/03/article/salt-addiction-perfect-timing/

Searching the web for 'ChronoLogic timing' brings me to this:  http://www.chronologictiming.com/.  Contact information is on that page, give 'em a try, volunteer your services to add CSV export capability.    That said, I would not be surprised were they protective of their intellectual property, since event timing seems to be a side business for them.

Honestly, I've offered to help many times. Maybe folks are just afraid the younger folks might oust them.

No, they just think you're an a$$hole.

He needs to learn that when you offer to help someone...don't act like your God and are there to save them.

Personally I don't know the gentleman (very loosely) however he says he's young. Most all of you know I am old so this is my guess. Mom and dad never said NO, he got everything he ever asked for, he's always right, and does not listen. When someone else is talking he heads for a hand held device and hears nothing. He does not suggest, he tells. He is the smartest one in the room and you soon know it. And last but not least if he has been to college in the last 10 years he is a liberal. We have nothing in common.

Don't forget that these volunteers haven't had any practice in the last 2 years. Maybe some new people also.

Jon, you do much more than most, and your efforts are truly appreciated!

Tom

Don't forget the volunteers are paid $ not sure how much but I think $50 for minimum 5 hrs work per day + meal tickeds

and Free rooms. My rooms were $1695 for 10 days.

A lot of the PAID volunteers work the meet as they or their crew members could not afford the cost.

Others work because they love the sport. Either way we need and appreciate them.
