Gremlin:

Just do it!  No excuses - just do it!

Get your ass out on the salt, set up your own computers, databases, live feed, .csv tables, MS Query reports, whatever.  Just do it.

Get it done - everything else is just lip flapping.

Steve.

+ 1  to Jesse, PJack and most others.

If it was easy, anyone could do it.

Sometimes , YOU GET ON THE SALT ; and those gremlins rear they're ugly heads.

Back in the old days daily results were taped to the window at the old Stateline every evening. Granted, fewer vehicles and 1 course. Now 3 courses and more entrants. A person for each course, and enter EVERY run manualy into a computer as big as those shown in 1960's movies needed to get results. I don't like to wait till Wed.or Thur. to see Sun-Mon results either, but this is an amature setup,by people who care. What do I know about computers?,just enought to see/read porn. I read my salt porn here every night.
I remember when the radio was first on the air,and now it's on the net.so I can be states away and be there. Thanks Ron for all those years you've been on! Sounds like you've found a good partner. And thanks to everyone involved with the broadcast.

Right  Steve... Such a genius idea, and maybe a mystery link to timing system with flawless ease. Right, right, on it. Guess someone needs to 'flap their lips'.

It's like stirring the pot, no one likes it, but I'm going to go right ahead and do it anyhow.

Yea gremlins.... But corroborated properly in advance, very enjoyable things could happen.

It's not the sixties or eighties anymore. TRY 2016, and the things that can happing with the 'right people involved'. Could be pretty awesome!

Remember when we had to wait for Hot Rod magazine to give us the story and some of the speeds?

Saltgremlin, you're playing games. Until you have the balls to say who you really are and where you really live your opinions count for nothing. Keep hiding like the troll you are.

That just goes to show, I am right. So trolling..... Right. How old are you Mr. Armchair? Toughen up! Cute in your lil welding helmet tho! Keep those great ideas in your posts coming, they're brilliant!

I also run SCCA solo (autocross) events.  Even at the Regional level, we have "live timing" in which results are available online within seconds of run completion.  It's all volunteer, too.   At the National level there are a few SCCA employees, but it's at least 95% volunteers/participants.

Again, I'm not trying to beat anybody up, but think about it.  Find me an SCCA event that doesn't have any infrastructure - and yes, parking lots for gymkhanas are infrastructure, but the SCTA-BNI folks use more traffic cones marking out the pits than any Gymkhana I've ever seen - that needs to groom its own roads for access, creates it's own 5 mile straightaways on government land within the time constraints weather and the BLM places upon it, moves those tracks laterally 50 feet a day in order to maintain a safe race surface, runs three courses simultaneously for a week with the nearest source of running water better than 5 miles away.

It's been a long time coming simply getting the audio feed up to snuff on a hot-spot.

Yes - all this technology would be nice, and while the logistics of doing it are at hand, unless somebody is prepared to take charge, fund and organize the folks to do it, it won't happen, because there's no real compelling reason to make it happen.

I got my hat,  :-D  do you?

Really, that is the best you can do?

You made a few valid points although the way you made them was not fair to the hard working volunteers that make the SETA events happen. When challenged to get engaged and take on the project you state it so simplified and doable... you over played your hand. Then you attack people who challenge you for your harsh statements about people that put on our speed events by volunteering their own time... weeks of their own time. If you have ever been to the salt you would know that the majority of the volunteers are up there in years and a 14 hour day on the salt takes its toll.
Then when you attacked Peter Jack a good guy, talented fabricator and contributor to all on this site. I choose to add my two  cents in support of Peter. The difference between me and you Mr. Saltgremlin is I am not afraid to show my face. Some could state that perhaps you showed us your best side in your photo. It is my opinion that anyone one with a "hat" would respect the organization that made that hat possible and would have to common sense to behave in a more appropriate manner. If you have not noticed we are here to share ideas, help each other, offer constructive criticism and promote the sport we all love. You Sir have accomplished nothing but demonstrate to us you are a coward.
