Carbiliner (car#496) apparently running Time Only. Is there a story there?

I've been following their (sparse) social media updates and haven't read anything about it.

Yesterday may have just been a licensing run. I don't know the history of the car enough to know if they've completed the required licensing passes. But it seems likely they haven't.

Record in AA/BGS is 348.342mph. Their 339.299 run yesterday was in the 2nd mile(!). Baring mechanical issues, I'd say they are looking good for that Gas record. (And good bet they'll go for Burkland's 417.020 Fuel record after that...)

Just got confirmation that yesterday's T.O. run was for Rob's unlimited license. He had to go over 300 without issue.

No other licensing is required. He's now free to run whatever he feels the car can handle.

Ahh...., so that's what T O means! I think that was the first time down the salt. I don't think it's been out of 1st gear too many times other than on the dyno. I think their P R guy is part driver, part mechanic, part transport driver, part beer assistant, so I'm thinking not too much stuff will get posted on FB until they get home.

He's been well into the 300s on his own test session and in a short amount of space. I'm eager to see a full run from him

Time Only is for a vehicle which meets the all the safety rules for the intended speed of the said vehicle and fits no specific class in the SCTA  rule book. I don't think they were entered in the TO class because if they were they would need to go back thru inspection with an addition entry being bought in the AA/BGS. If the car met the safety rules and since AA/BGS doesn't have very many class specs I cannot see why it was actually as TO.   As far as I know TO has absolutely nothing to do with licensing a driver.

I wish all entries hi-speed and safety.

The team has confirmed it was a licensing run. And SCTA classed it TO on the daily run sheet.

Yes - from their FB page, sounds like it was just a "paperwork" error which put them in T/O.  The liner is in impound this morning, anxiously awaiting their turn to back up the record...

Something happened on their return run and they slowed / turned out around the 3. I was just over in the pits and they are working on it. I did not stop to see what happened.
