RV rental
« on: July 03, 2016, 01:50:29 PM »
Can someone who has rented before tell me the cons and pros of an RV rental?
Are there sani dumps available in Wendover?
Should you go on the salt despite rental agreements not to go off road and unpaved roads?

We used the KOA dump in 2013.  I do not think they charged us much at all.  I believe that is the only one in town.

For the last couple of years Mike Crawford has let campers park at the lot for the new Museum - and dump into the city sewer system for free.  There's a new RV site behind the Nugget - they probly allow dumping although might charge.

We hired an RV in 2013 and had a couple of days on the salt.  We just had the salt washed off when we left the salt and after a day or so on the road you would hardly know.  I was happy driving on the salt and just made sure we stuck to the main routes you could see had been marked out.  Didn't like the thought of parking at the Bend just due to comments about rain and getting stuck.  I can't compare life without the RV but having the awning for shade and a nice cold fridge for drinks, and no walking to the Honey Buckets, it's the only way I'd do Speed Week.  We hired RVs the last 2 years for Speed Week but due to cancellations went touring instead.  We stayed on a car park near the Nugget, just over the road and down the hill.  Didn't dump or fill water but was assured that this could be done at the KOA or the Nugget so wasn't worried.

Howdy folks!

I'm a West Wendover resident. There are two RV parks in the Wendover area; KOA and Nugget Casino. Those are the only two locations I'm aware of for dumping POOP!

For the past two years (of racing, at least) Mayor Mike Crawford has let campers use the parking lot area of the new Museum, and allowed them to dump their tanks in the manhole for the sewer system out there already in place for the Museum.  I assume it'll be okay again this year.  Maybe Mike'll see this and comment.
