Stopped at Land's End yesterday...
« on: June 28, 2016, 06:24:02 AM »
We diverted a little on the way home from Pike's Peak to Boise yesterday, so I could check out how things looked from Land's End.   It wasn't good.  Although it wasn't completely covered with water, most of it was.  It appeared that the water went clear out to floating island.  Of course, that would have been an optical delusion...

Thanks for the observation!!!
I understand that a few days ago USFRA cancelled the July 5-11 T&T bc of water at the access area at land's End.

Looking at the weather for the next 15 days show temps in the mid to high 90s and winds from 7-15 mph. If this continues the water should be going away quickly. (we all hope!!)

Just heard that the early crew found an 8-mile long course, a 5-mile shorty and a 3-mile licensing one, all with "white" salt.

All that could change by the time I post this, but it's still nice to hear.

Last week my daughter Jessica had some stickers made and  TFA now has an official saint: Saint Kinga.

Is the news of good salt a coincidence???...

Saint Kinga is the patron saint of salt miners, but Jessica added "Salt Racers" to her domain.

"Saint Kinga of Poland (also known as Cunegunda; Polish: Święta Kinga, Hungarian: Szent Kinga) (5 March 1224 – 24 July 1292) is a saint in the Catholic Church and patroness of Poland and Lithuania.[1][2]"

Had to dig deep to find a salt-related saint, but what the heck - a team Saint?  It's worth a try...

hey Slim!
Jessica is very knowledgable about the catholic church, even teaches at St Lawrence Middle School
But she searched hi and low and could not find the patron saint of B/G Lakesters.
This is as close as she could get (and even then it took a little modification)

Well, doctor, the deadline for Early Entry was about 2 months ago.  We're down about 20%.  I'm thinking that many were tired after two years of sending in their money to the SCTA and the hotels and getting a partial refund.  I figure they're into "self-insuring" this year.

The reports are good.  But we've all driven there and seen things change on the day before the event.  I'll not be too sad if that happens again -- at least I'll get to drink some pink stuff with friends.

Stan, that's what the faithful said to one another as they contemplated drinking the Kool Aid that Rev. Jones was ladling out. . . :-o
