What is the best way to form SFI roll bar padding to the bends in the roll bar?

Buy the round stuff & zip tie it on so you can take it out if you need to.

It will conform with brute force and a BFH. Kidding, It will bend to follow the bars.

Use the 1/2" Jaz and a heat gun to soften it up. I can drop ship some to you from Behrent's if you need it.

Yep, it's job is to make sure the roll bar doesn't crack the helmet, it does feel pretty hard but it spreads the impact load over the surface without bottoming out

I got some from Jaz. Their Tech. Services had no clue on how to bend it. Tried a heat gun but the padding broke when I tried to bend 90* it broke. Maybe need to heat more.

:? If you have the formed stuff & you need to transition a 90* junction in the tubing, just cut it to length! Your helmet can't fit into the corner of the junction, it's round. :-D Or am I totally not getting what you're talking about? :|

Using the Jaz brand I had no trouble bending the padding into the cage radius. More heat should do it plus slow and easy.
Working in the shop I use the 'F' word a lot. No not that word these words Focus and Finish go Fast and Flathead Ford!

Learned something again, Joe never thought about warming it up with the heat gun. Thanks,

My problem may be that the padding is 4-5 years old. Always stored in box in basement but may have
"aged".

Talking to the founder of Orange Aid a few years back, whos son is a neurosurgon and he let me in on a secret which I have posted here before. A standard pine 2x4 will pass the SFI test for rollbar/interior padding. In other words it is junk. I watched Eric from Alaska try and bend some JAZ stuff that had been sitting in the sun all day and it broke like a 3 day old breadstick. ISP, and others are at least working with better options. I strongly feel there is a lot of room for improvement here with the technologies we have today. Things like Zoombang that are energy dissipating and such.
