As Stainless says....Check with tech for official answer.
I have run Goodyear (and Hoosier) front runners, 4 corners, both Wilmington and Bonneville and no one has said boo. 170mph in Firebird (G/GC). FWIW
Thanks. When you ran dragster fronts (on the rear) at Wilmington how well did they work (and live)? My reason for thinking that I'd need drag slicks was based on an assumption that I'd need them for faster acceleration in the mile.

As I also run a small motor, designed for high rpms, not a lot of low end torque. Indeed they don't want you to spin the tires leaving the line as it sprays the crew and cars with grit etc. My rear is 4.33 with 3.28 first gear but still bit slow off the line. First time I ran this car at Wilmington had an open rear. I revved it a bit and slowly let out clutch (Quartermaster 2 disc- mostly an on-off switch-no slip). Car didn't move. I went "oh crap, clutch is bad". Slowly began to move and then rest of run OK> My crew in the truck behind said I disappeared in a cloud of smoke as one tire lit up.
Limited slip fixed that.
Anyway, though I am sure you will get differing opinions, and yes, it is a 1 mile drag race, what you do in the first few feet is not going to make much difference in the end. It is not a 7000rpm side step the clutch start. (normal drag starts are for the ET, HP mostly determines the MPH at the drag strip other things being equal. Same at Wilmington. HP. ) You ease into it, get car moving and then stand on it. With the narrow tires my car will spin them a bit on 1-2 and maybe 2-3 shifts when it is up on the torque curve. But only a little. I have several sizes of tires to change "gears" so didn't want to get other expensive tires just for Wilmington. Wouldn't run drag slicks at Bonneville anyway (not sure legal- though the streetable radials may be ok- I don't know)) and then you get into the whole narrow vs wide tire argument, about which you will find many varied and different opinions here and elsewhere.
I have yet to wear out a tire anywhere. Sometimes the sidewalls get a bit funky looking with cracks with age so out they go. I don't run my (very expensive) Mickey Thompson Bonneville tires (with very thin rubber on the "tread" ) at Wilmington. Salt only.
