Crocker Clocks
« on: March 21, 2016, 08:27:28 PM »
Joline and I watched TWFI (The World's Fastest Indian) again last evening along with some friends who had never seen it. What a great movie! Anthony Hopkins did a great job as Burt Munro.

I wonder where those mechanical clocks that were shown in the timing stand are located these days? In a museum, perhaps? Those dials spinning around look so impressive; not as accurate as todays but Crocker did a great job with them.

I had some photos of the clocks and gave them to someone in the making of the movie. They were mock ups of the real thing. Wish I knew what happen to the originals. I took some pictures at the salt when they were making the movie. Most of the props were damaged or destroyed when the rain storm hit after the meet.

Thanks, Glen. I hope the actual clocks are safe in a museum or collection.

I have a bunch of the old timing stuff that was used for speed & distance records by USAC at Bonneville back in the day, I plan to donate it to the museum if it gets off the ground.

Here is a nice article in Hemmings about Otto Clocker, with a couple of intersting photos:
