We booked one room to kinda cover our bases and may check back later to get another when things are a little more certain. The cancellation policy is interesting.....

" In the event that Speed Week is cancelled by the organizers:

5 Night Packages

Montego Bay: $600 of the deposit will be kept with the rest of the deposit being refunded within 10 days of event cancelation
Peppermill/Rainbow: $568 of the deposit will be kept with the rest of the deposit being refunded within 10 days of event cancelation"

I got one room reserved at the Montego Bay. Was thinking about two rooms, three people, but after reading the new policy just got one.

Last year they kept one of the $370.00 nights for each of the 5 rooms I had. Yes that was 5 X $370.00.

I"m still not to happy about that.

I refuse to give them $600 just in case. I'll stay in Wells till rooms open up at a reasonable (well sort of) price, then go day by day. In 2010 we got there late, I  figured sleeping in the van till the next night. My son said to try anyway, he walked into the Rainbow (without  a Bonneville shirt or hat on) and got a room at the regular rate. So much for being full and booked up.

Nothing like a revised "gouge the racers" policy.  After getting burned two years in a row, I will run the risk like a lot of other guys are doing to try to get a room on short notice.  Rooms are only about $125 a night when we go to Wilmington or Loring.

I'm not sure of the credit card laws and how they may change from state to state when it comes to payments for rooms during events. I'm sure there are some on this forum who have. Seems I recall some of the casinos stating they could charge a higher cancellation rate in years past but in the end agreed to a 1 night fee for the highest night rental (First Weekend) Some credit cards could dispute any more than that. I for one do not need a fancy room an opted for the Red Garter Casino at a much lower night fee and a stated policy of the highest one night fee. Still not a bad take for making a reservation. On the other hand this is their home and they deserve it for living there the entire year. I couldn't do it.

I got a room in Wells (back in October?) and it was about $380 total for 7 days during Speedweek.  Maybe some are still available for other people?
