Taking a look at the Widowmaker Hillclimb hill . . .
« on: March 08, 2016, 09:00:53 PM »
Ever since I first saw the movie "On Any Sunday", I've been fascinated by
the Widowmaker Hillclimb, although in the last few years the event has, at
best, suffered from on/off issues related to insurance and cost issues.

The hill itself is what I want to see.  I'll be passing through the area in late
May this year, and would like to get close enough to see the actual hill.  I
understand it is on private property, and I don't know how close to it I'll be
able to get.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to park near the bottom, and even take a hike up
the hill (with prior permission from the owner).

Any comments/suggestions regarding this?

The hill is easy to see. Take the 14600 South exit and head towards the mountain. You can see the old course still. There are a lot of houses built around it now and I don't know if you can access it without cutting through people's yards. Good luck.
