Hayabusa tech question
« on: February 14, 2016, 05:15:50 PM »
Can anybody confirm the cylinder/port spacing on the Hyabusa?  Specifically, I'm looking for intake port centerlines.

Graci.

I think it is 88mm between center of cylinders. Stainless can check, he has the motors

I hope that is correct, because if it is, I'm going to stand and yell "Bingo".

Are all Hyabusa throttle bores 40mm? And two throttle bores per casting?

Chris... thought I sent you all that stuff on Busa and GSXR 1000 TB

99-07 are the same 80 MM bore spacing for both
Busa 49 in 45 out has injector sprays offset in bore at bottom
Gsxr 49 in 42 out injector sprays down middle of bore
single throttle bodies

08 different, that is the one with the paired bodies.  IIRC they are 80 MM bore space and they are larger.

I have some 99-07 I could send you to play with...
Don't have any late model hayabusa stuff.

Indeed you did, Stainless - My bad for not responding.

A google search that I've been doing - much along what Sumner sent - indicated 88 mm, but that info was on a lot of boards that never quite confirmed a year or precise model, and some of it left questions.

I've got an e-mail into APE's tech guys - hopefully I'll hear back on Monday.

I may call John Hartley - they're north of Waukesha and made the V8 busa engines.

If I can confirm 88 mm spacing, it saves me reengineering individual TBs with bracketing and possibly the fuel rail.

Thanks a lot, guys - I'm going to get this confirmed or denied this week.

As an aside, it appears some of the VW stuff is built on 88 mm spacing.

Wish I could just find a bloody blueprint with dimensions.   :|

Yup 80mm on early busa
later stuff is like 75-90-75
and i think the later gsxr is wider on the outside and closer in centre , more like 90-75-90

Just dumming it down for the sake of the tour group, so stay between the yellow lines, put on your safety glasses and keep your eyes open for loose nuts.

Chris, You want a set on 88MM?  I have a set from a gsxr 1000 apart to remove the upper butterflies.
I built some busa fuel rails, they are not too hard to do, you just have to get a bar  and remove everything that is not the rail.

Bob, let me chat up Mark.  We've been holding off on pulling the trigger until we know for certain what kind of flow demand the K is going to require, and if we can get it out of the heads at a flow rate that will work without having to rev it to 12K.

I've been down the road of buying parts, only to have a lot of unusables.  Mark's approach is clearly the way to go - determine what you need and source, rather than build around what you've got.

What are the throttle body diameters on the 1000?

That's a really good looking rail, my friend.

Thanks again.

Chris
