New sign at Lands End
« on: January 03, 2021, 09:09:23 PM »
On Saturday, I traveled to Utah and went for a bobsled ride down the 2020 Olympic course in Park City.  Definitely an "E-Ticket" ride!  On the return trip to Boise, I took the scenic route - via Wendover.  Two things I saw at Lands End surprised me:  1) There was absolutely no water on the salt, and; 2) BLM had erected a new sign there.  I don't know if anybody has mentioned the sign before.   But people had already started putting stickers on it, including one on the tail fin of the Mormon Meteor.   I was able to remove all but one of them.  I wonder what the lack of water at this point holds for us in 2021.

Maybe should've put the sign about 100ft back, dig a moat around it, let it fill with brine, hopefully deter the Graffitidiots...
Wonder how long before the old sign goes on Ebay ?

That would be the second constructive thing the BLM have done with the $Millions in the last 30 years.

Would spraying it with Teflon help keep the stickers and graffiti at bay?

A moat with crocs and Teflon won't stop bullets. I seem to remember lots of bullet holes in the old sign. It does look nice for now. Is it metal?

Is it metal?

Yes, it's normal aluminum highway sign material.
