.....I thiiiiiiiink, you've got ten years, then on a helmet with NO WEAR or discernable degradation a two year grace period.... so the 2010 stuff if in perfect condition is good til 2022....
Few understand what I'm trying to do but they vastly outnumber those who understand why...................

I'd like to thiiiiiiiiiink likewise...............I bought a new helmet in 2011 but it had a Snell 2005 tag and used it that year only..........then had to buy a new Snell 2010 unit for 2013 and I used it again in 2014 for 3-runs.  Maybe if I get famous I could look forward to autographing my 'old' helmets for some cash :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

The real reason I ask is to be prepared.

There is a post on this very subject in the "safety" section of this forum.

I guess the helmet (anything) dealers will continue to sell the old stuff first.  A handful of years ago I ordered a helmet or a tire or something online -- and got one that was "new" but manufactured 4-5 years before.  In other words -- I got one season before it was out of date.

So I learned then to specify on the order form (paper, electronic, or phone) that the item must be of recent manufacture - and then I state what date(s) I will accept.  When the critter arrives and is too old I raise a stink and they send me the one I wanted, not the one they wanted to move out of dead stock.
