I guess the helmet (anything) dealers will continue to sell the old stuff first. A handful of years ago I ordered a helmet or a tire or something online -- and got one that was "new" but manufactured 4-5 years before. In other words -- I got one season before it was out of date.
So I learned then to specify on the order form (paper, electronic, or phone) that the item must be of recent manufacture - and then I state what date(s) I will accept. When the critter arrives and is too old I raise a stink and they send me the one I wanted, not the one they wanted to move out of dead stock.
