Castrol R availability in the US
« on: January 12, 2016, 03:35:10 PM »
I have just been told by our shipping agent that we can't ship oil with the bike, We are running Castrol R 40, is it readily available in the States.
I know its early but the new engine is coming together and a decision needs to made on either mineral or vegetable and I don't fancy flushing out the frame.

Cheers Andy

R can be a bit difficult to find over here.  I've run R for 50 years and now I'm running Oilzall.  R under a different name.  Its a castor.  I ran R inthe Weslake until I couldn't get any.  Switched to Oilzall and the engine didn't notice.  I get my Oilzall from Cody speedway.  He's at speedwaybikes.com or email him at codyjawa@sbcglobal.net.   Smells like R too!!

Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.

You can send it to the Carquest autoparts. Send Mike a PM.

Why ship it from England?  Oilzall, as I said, is R under another name.  Its expensive enough to bring a bike from England without the added expense of shipping oil.  Cody sells it by the quart or gallon.  Shouldn't be a problem to have Cody ship it to Mike in Wendover.  Oilzall in my Weslake.  No problems.  Trust me.

Talk to your shipping agent again Andy.
Castor based lubes are classed as non-hazardous for shipping purposes. We were allowed to ship the stuff with the bike in 2014 & 2015.
Shipping costs will depend on whether Andy is going by sea or air Bill. If its in a container by sea, you can cram in everything for no extra cost.

Already onto them re-not a mineral based oil and its looking good.
The plan is to fly the bike out and return by boat, we are also discussing if they can fit 2 bikes in the crate at the moment.

ERC sell Blendzall 460 at Bonneville if you send them a mail. I drive my ESO on Blendzall 5 year now and I like it more than R-40.

Castrol R-40 is a 4-stroke oil while Blendzall 460 and Maxima 927 are 2-stroke oil. Blendzall 465 is a 4-stroke castor racing oil and available at many cycle shops as well as Amazon.

Since there is a gathering here of speedway type people here, tell me the reason behind running Castrol R?
I have an ESSO here I built for a customer for Bville that is on hold at this stage due to his health.
