farm tractor landspeed
« on: January 05, 2016, 12:46:33 AM »
I just read some blurbs about Jack Donohue and his V8 Ford 8N tractor at Wilmington. Every article said that he broke Ab Jenkin's record (from 1935 or so?). Excuse me, but WHAT record under WHOSE sanction? Have I somehow missed seeing "farm tractor" category in rulebooks- SCTA & ECTA? :?

for growing numbers of people there is no difference between traditional true lsr -average
speed maintained for min of 5280 ft or 1000 m...vs 60-120 ft...

It may have issues to get through tech, but this tractor looks like it could be a contender to the title.

I guess it would run in B/BGT (Blown Gas Tractor)???

This is just further proof that when males can't be left alone too long with anything mechanical unsupervised.

I'm surprised that it doesn't have a turbine engine in it since it's from Sweden.

Oh yea, I've got the push vehicle too.   :-D

I think you will find in the ECTA rule book theres a catogory T/O this now stands for Tractor Only.
The sanction is ECTA did you miss that? Heck better get busy on your tractor the record is a bit soft right now but when Jack gets the bugs worked out that record is going to fall hard
Working in the shop I use the 'F' word a lot. No not that word these words Focus and Finish go Fast and Flathead Ford!

Thanks.

I'm a few years behind on reading the ECTA rulebook. When I had seen references to "T/O" I thought it meant "Time Only".

But apparently journalists simply took the liberty of labeling Jenkins' runs as "world records"?

Heck, I could claim the "[tire] speed record" for all blue tractors named "Challenger" that are powered by a blown Pontiac V8... @ 123 MPH...

Good call, in an effort to entertain myself I somehow ended up searching for "Turbine/Pulse jet explodes" on the net the other day, man, those Swedes have an adrenalin problem :-D

I have been trying to figure out what kind of LSR project to build and now I have the inspiration!

Instead of the worlds fastest tractor I'm going to build the worlds fastest couch. Oh crap its already been done. Uh ... how about the worlds fastest lawn mower, no scratch that. Bar stool? Skate board?

I know. The worlds fastest Barbie Car!! I wonder if Pee Wee Gleason would pilot it?
Everything I know about opera, I learned from Bugs Bunny.
