The strongest production transaxlewas the NSX 5-speed. But thetallest-geared production transaxlewas the F40-MT2 from an '06 G6 GT ( or was it an '05? )
 That's the one I bought new for $600 when I built a 5.3L LSx V8 Fiero.
As I recall, the FDR was 3.55:1, but sixth was 0.62:1?
Been too long, so if anyone wants to research it, this should be a good start.
 The Getrag 282 ( or was it the 292? ) was something like 3.61 x 0.72.
I did one of those as well, with a 350 SBC V8.

I am using one of the F40 6 speeds, but from a Saab application.  You are right about the 3.55 final drive for the US spec transaxles.  Luckily for me, there are some taller ratios available in Europe.

The variation I'm using has a 3.35 final drive, with 0.66 in 6th gear.

There is also a 3.09 final drive ratio variant, but as far as I can tell, it's an extremely rare Saab diesel wagon application.
