696 Lakester... looking for a partnership
« on: November 11, 2015, 04:34:26 AM »
Folks,
Several moons ago, I bought up the old 696 Belly Tanker with a view to having a continued reason to come see my Salt Buddies even after I've grown up too much to want to drive the Flower towards 300mph...
She's been sat near LAX ever since but now I'm losing my storage.
Pics etc of the car are here:
http://www.sakowskimotors.com/detail.asp?carid=462

Now she needs some love in terms of rewelding the frame to modern specs, and I'd like to drop the oil rig off the top and close the cockpit. She's also never been properly dynoed on the Turbo motor, but she deserves to go back to the Salt (if it's there...).

So with the Flower being lovingly cared for by a buddy out West already, I'm looking for someone that fancies taking on this project. I'll fund the parts and the trips to the races as budget allows, so I'm just looking for someone that has the time to prep her, experience in getting a chassis like that up to spec, has the storage and fancies crewing and potentially sharing the driving with me on her.

West Coast is preferable, and she's 17ft long roughly so owning a decent trailer might be advantageous as well!

Anyone fancy working with me on this towards their Red Hat?

Well, then, let's get that slacker situation taken care of.  Instead of "kinda full" let's get you all the way to "Way full right up to here!".

Thats quite the interesting project you picked up Rick. What about putting a canopy over the roll cage and a shroud behind it to clean up the aero. It might be a difficult task to redo the drivers compartment enough to bring everything in under the skin.

Silly question...Why are race cars a "SHE"? I know mine aren't; if anything they are IT'S. And don't give that crap about they do what they want to, have a mind of their own, etc. And personally I don't name them either..I guess ok but just not my thing....JD
