Gas Lakester XF/GL

Could some one tell me please the Gas Lakester XF/GL class is it for Ford sidevalve  V8s only ? Or can I run a V8 side valve from another vintage make ? And D. Monaco ran the Spirit of Modesto in 2003 in the XF class what engine did he run ? Hope you can help see you at the Salt ,Zurferjoe

from the 2015 rulebook 2.A.1VINTAGE ENGINES:

"XF class consists of any production FORD/MERCURY passenger car V-8 flathead engine, 1932- 1953, up to 325 CID"

Zurferjoe...any sidevalve V8 other than a Ford/Mercury runs in class XO.

BTW, Don M ran a Ford V8 side valve. The popular flathead.

Or just run in XO/GL. Life doesn't need to revolve around a flathead Ford.

A good place for them....my wife can't wait to remove the 2 or 3 tons of GMC parts from our garage.(read remove as throw away) :evil:

I couldn't help but notice you're in Germany, which is why I'm chiming in.
 
There are a lot of French made Ford Flathead blocks floating around Europe.  They're cast with a higher amount of nickel in the block, and while they're fairly stout, they are not permitted to run in the vintage flathead classes at Bonneville.

I'd hate to see you build it, show up, and get kicked in the slats upon inspection - that would make for a long boat ride home.
