Richard Assen held the outright siton "World Record" at 260+ on his turbocharged 1350cc Hayabusa, that was before Al Lamb claimed it riding a Turbocharged 1000cc Honda. Gregs best to date has been 252+, :-),,

Bill's is certinaly "The Fastest"  8-)

Close enough!! That makes Joe the second fastest on a sit on bike.

Bill's plan, after running 300 in the mile, was to build a Bonneville bike. The rolling chassis was in his shop.

Don't forget Joe Amo's 272 mile on his "old" ZX10.  As I remember - he said, as he came back through the pits quite shiny and dripping oil - that his data showed him running a 282 just before the motor let loose.  Very unofficial, that 282, but I do think I remember a timing slip for 272 in the fourth mile - or something.  Anybody else remember?

Just for the heck of it I went diving through the race photos - and found this one, probably from only two or three years into his racing career, of Bill Warner and his Turbo 'Busa.  I don't remember the date -- my display tells me 1940, but I think that's wrong.  I'd guess, though, that it's from '08 or thereabouts.  I'll dig -- have some more of Bill in here.

In the words of that great poet, Hillary, "what difference does it make?"  If he was oversized he would have set the record in a different class, wrong fuel - different class.  Short of having a body that was illegal anywhere or no kill switch, this thing would have set a record.  At some point people need to lay off of the certification exception and realize that 311 was a BFD.

there isn't a person alive, especially on this site in this fraternity that
does'nt "realize" and acknowledge that Bill Warner and the 311 is a "BFD"

Rocky Robinson has the FIM World Motorcycle Record, set at Bonneville, in excess of 376 MPH. Makes him the 'BFD" to me. No other criteria other than fastest was put forward to distinguish between the two.

This is the problem with this forum lately.  Everybody knows exactly what "record" we were talking about which had nothing to do with a streamliner and then you get folks like DW230 who has to make an assinine statement like he just made above to try to make himself look superior but instead just makes himself look like an arrogant jerk IMO.  There are other organizations doing some really great things that have nothing to do with SCTA or your precious 200 "club".

Lets see
Asphalt 1 mile & 1 1/2 mile one way only class is a question
El Mirage dirt one way for records In a legal class  Over 250 mph by Noonan several times
Bonneville 3 to  five miles and record is a two way avg. or for SW a two run avg.

Three different venues.

I am wondering why this thread was posted in the ECTA section seeing as how Bills record was done at LTA?
