No tent camping?!?
« on: September 17, 2015, 08:59:53 PM »
So, I can't camp at the track?  I camped at Maxton once, and I saw on the ECTA website a PDF showing "camping area for racers".  But just now I happened across an FAQ page that says tent camping is not allowed at the Ohio Mile.

Oh well, I guess I better start calling hotels and hoping for cancellations...

Cowan Lake State Park.  its a short drive and they have real tent site and facilities. Theres a couple really great spots between the track and the camp site to jump your rental car   Just DO NOT!!!! stay in their cabins.

The location for the camping is pavement but there is grass around the perimiter of the lot.

The Hampton Inn offers a grassy area behind the hotel where you can pitch a tent for free...no facilities.

I googled "ECTA Ohio mile camping" and found this link:  www.ecta-lsr.net/ohio-mile-updates/

Wherein it says:

Quote
Camping Area for Racers

We have been able to arrange for a camping area for RV's and Travel Trailers across to street from the Track. There are no facilities available. Tent camping is not allowed. Camp Grounds and the Statepark information are listed under the Welcome button in Accommodations.

That is the only place on ECTA's website that mentions tent camping (that I can find).   Glad I found it before I left, I was all set to camp at the track.

If the Hampton still allows it you will be real close to the track and a lot of racers stay there.
