Otto Ryssman Passes
« on: August 21, 2015, 04:05:31 PM »
Just got news that Otto passed last night. Otto was one of the Original 5 charter members of the Bonneville 200 MPH Club in 1952. A true legend of the sport. Gods Speed.

I found this on the web about him.

Records or parts, I didn't come all this way not to break something.

It was 1952 when Otto drove the Post Special Streamliner to a record-breaking 222.57 MPH earning him a red hat before there were red hats! The Bonneville 200MPH Club was formed in 1953 and Otto was inducted as a "charter member"

We spoke many times during the development of my first book "Bonneville Salt Flats, an he was very generous with his comments and observations of the times. I allowed me to gain a firm grasp of the sport in its earliest days.
