LSR S10
« on: July 19, 2015, 10:29:41 PM »
I bought this project wanting to build it with my Dad and take it to the salt flats, I do not think he is in good enough health to make it, and I just talked myself into going to 3ish more years of school. I think it would be best to get rid of this, and spend my money of my drag car because it will be less stressful and something I can more easily do with my father. Below is the sales ad from when I bought it, I am located in St. Louis, Missouri and could meet you someplace close if you gave me some gas money, I bought it for $1500 and that is what I am asking for it.

Let me know if you have any questions

I have an 1988 S-10 CHEVY p.u. THAT HAS BEEN RUN IN THE MINI MODIFIED CLASS. It comes with a log book. It's the std. cab long wheel base model. It has a double hoop roll cage most of the items to make it an easy rebuild to current requirements. It has a 9" Ford diff with 2.90 gears. The hood has a tall Z28 type scoop and the front bumper has a spoiler grafted on. It has after market axles and an auto shifter. It had a powerglide in it. As a 'D' class PU it had a 283 bored .060 (292) with GM camel hump heads and a flat tappet cam and a Victor Jr w/ a 650 Holley. It ran a top speed of 166mph with this mild combo. It has Goodyear front runner tires and Coil over rear shocks. Also modified front end for some caster. The bed has a tin cover over it and in the bed is a fuel cell. This rig would be perfect for 2 or 3 guys to go in on and run at WOS in the 150mph class. A mild 350 would do it. Then you could decide if you wanted to put a 4 speed in it and some big HP's and go class racing. $1500 is all I'm asking. I paid more then that for it so make any trade offers reasonable. The fellow I got it from claims he had $5500 in the truck not counting running gear.

The pictures make the body look rougher than it is, it has sad outside and would look better if it got washed. It would need a paint job, but the body seems pretty straight and solid.

Wow, sorry to hear that your dad isn't up to it.

What you do have is a decent roller for anyone wanting to get into this, with an engine bay set up for the most common engine in racing.

I'm sure it will sell, but it would have been nice seeing you getting it up and flying.

Let's call this a misfire, and down the road a piece, we'll see you on the salt.

AND DON'T SELL THE BUICK!

I still plan on trying to LSR race in the future, but for now I think it would be better to wait.

The Buick is not going anywhere. The money I get from the S10 plus the other parts I have bought for it I will roll into the Buick and wrap up some lose ends and makes some improvements.

I should also add I would trade, or do a partial trade for LS stuff.

I am looking for a 4L80E, a set of 799 heads, and a few other things.

D'oh!  Why couldn't post this 6 months ago?  :)   I ended up building my own S10 this summer but this would have been perfect.  How hard would it be to get this cage legal for >200mph?   Can you post more pictures of it and the suspension?

Ps. Sorry to hear about your dad.

Thanks,
Kerry

I also have a t56 and LSX bell housing with most of the parts to do a manual transmission set up, and a Borg Warner s480 and the rest of the parts for a turbo set up on a 6.0 LS that I would see with the truck if someone was interested.

I am currently living in Australia, but the truck  is at my Dads house and he can arrange a time to have it picked up if someone is interested in the truck.

I am open to any and all offers.

Have a good day,

Gary Lewis
