Course length
« on: July 14, 2015, 01:21:38 PM »
With all the concerns about Speed Week, I am thinking about giving the BMST a try.  What length are the courses?  How many do they run? I don't need five miles, but three miles would give me a chance to stretch it out a bit more over what the runways offer.  How many runs do you typically get per day?

normally they have:

two 5 mile courses (short)  which gives you 2 miles to get up to speed, 1 mile measured and 2 miles to slow down

one  RWB course which gives you 1 mile to get up to speed, 1 mile measured and 2 miles to slow down

one long course which depending on salt conditions gives you 3-5 miles to get up to speed, 1 mile measured and 3-5 miles to slow down

But this ain't normally . . .

Nor would the wait in line be normal -- if they had courses and SpeedWeek was cancelled.  The about 200+ motorcycles from SpeedWeek would inflate the entry numbers (or not).

Way too early to guess at number of runs per day.

As if a miracle happened.

In decent conditions, I did 11 runs in 4-days on the short course. In lousy conditions I did 3-runs in 2 days.  I now use my pit area to park the trailer and bike for the night. I do minor adjustments while waiting in line. If you have a bike that exceeds 125-mph you will have a better chance at getting more runs.

Its really only two courses............Mountain = short; International = long..............but there are two starting points on each course depending on the speed of your bike or if your in RWB. If you use gas....get it as soon as possible

Toward the end of the meet lots of folks go home and the crew gets real efficient at running the track.  A reasonable estimate is one or two runs the first day, two or three the second, and three or four on each subsequent day.  This assumes you are really motivated.  Most of us do not run more than twice a day.
