SLC airport: tow 30' trailer into airport???
« on: July 12, 2015, 05:44:03 AM »
Q:  could someone confirm that we can tow a pretty good sized trailer into the SLC airport to drop one of our crew at the car rental building?

TFA is renting a car for Speed Week and it would be convenient for us to get the car at the airport if possible.
Thoughts?

Boy, I'm thinking any good sized enclosed trailer near the arrival/departure areas is a giant no-no.    You might want to check the Homeland Security website.

Having said that, MM followed me back to SLC for me to drop off my rental car, in the car return area.   His rig is also an open trailer, and there were no problems.

There is a shuttle train that goes into the Airport. It runs pretty regularly. I can line you up with a schedule if you like. You can just shove the poor guy out of the car at one of the stops.  :-D Wayno

"Homeland Security..."
YIKES, that never even occurred to me.
OK, then either drop Jake off at a rental site away from the airport or at a shuttle stop.

Wayno, thanks for the offer.  I'll ask Ms Google and if no success, i'll hit you up.

You can drive right through passenger the passenger drop off there with all the buses, we've done it but you wouldn't want to hang out there too long. We're talking SLC here not JFK. :-D

Jake just contacted enterprise, he will pick up the car in Sandy, a block away from 15.
There is a real big gas/diesel station right next to Enterprise

That is a good plan, buy fuel while he picks up the rental...

And yes if you changed your mind, we towed the 40 with the big car to the airport to pick up crew once... too many people in a hurry around airports... of course anywhere you can put the front corner of the truck in traffic a 40 footer will fit.
