I'd rather "discuss" making a racing engine out of a Ford Flathead . . .
Have you built one? What port layout do you like?

It's been 40 + years since I worked at a "Speed Shop" and actually touched flat head parts.

All I have done recently is to do some consulting and analysis of for a couple of racers using flat heads for power plants.   I don't have any "specific" insights to flat heads, just a very generalized outline of what needs to be done to overcome some of the inherent "limitations" of the design.

Check out some of my postings on 38Flatties build diary about the "FlatCad".   You might find some of the suggestions there useful.

You might also want to read over the thread I started:         How do I make my engine better?    http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,14175.0.html

Hope this is helpful.
