Worlds Record Speed

Congratulations Mike !!

We were waiting with a fire extinguisher at mile post 7 when Don ran his second pass on the 318 MPH record. He came to a stop and Marlo was there to "squirt" the fire that was caused by an oil leak that couldn't be fixed within the turn around time.

We knew his speed. We knew the average. We knew it was a new record but no shouting, no champagne and only happiness.

Now I am 800 miles away as I read about Ack's tremendous accomplishment and I have chicken skin and a lump in my throat.

Way to go fellow. You have used todays technology and have made it happen in a very short time. UNBELIEVABLE !!

Want to bring your scooter to the hotel lobby for my next banquet in Portland? It's your spot if you chose to.

They thought about it for a long time and did it convincingly in a short time.
They will remember it forever and have made a place in history for themselves.
CONGRADULATIONS !!
The win goes to the tribe that worked the smartest.
The race now moves to 350 and I see them coming.

"Beaudy Nuke"  from the "extended family" down under.

Having seen the machinery at Lake Gairdner, meeting the people, scoring some Top 1  merch. Top quality all round, you could sense a record wasn't far off.

Congratulations to the Top 1 crew, Mike and Rocky.

I was flipping between the US Nationals and Wind Tunnel last night and saw the on air interview with Mike and Dennis Mannig.  Sounds like Dave despain will traveling to the salt this week to view the meet in person.

Must be something to do with the Speed sticker on Ack Attack, just kidding. Wish my impound was in place , I hate to miss this one.

Congratulations doesn't cut it. THE WORLDS FASTEST. The ultimate in motor sports. Recorded in history forever. No asterisk, no class listing, just "The Fastest".
Rocky may break the record today, or it might take another 16 years. Can you believe it's been that long?
A salute to all that's gone before:

It is funny that AMO doesnt realize the FIM attempt is not a record yet but pending
ratification by the FIM technical Congress later in the year.
It must be advertised as pending approval until then with  substantial penalties for violation of that rule.
If the 2 club will recognize FIA records set at Bonneville, how is the FIM not equally treated ?
Don't screw this one up.

See my post on the other thread - read all the Bonneville 2 club minimums posts, if you can stand it again.

The club DOES recognize FIM records once certified in Paris.

As noted above - the Bonneville 200 MPH Club does in fact recognize FIM records set at the Bonneville Salt Flats - We have on site at the BUB Meet the members of the club's motorcycle committee - Scott Guthrie, Larry Forstall and Jason McVicar.  They are both racing and audtiting the proceedings for review. As racers, they are very satisfied with the FIM Certification process and Ack's compliance with that process.  As has been posted both on Landracing.Com and the 2 Club web site, BNI/SCTA, USFRA, FIA and FIM are the current sanctioning bodies that are eligible for inclusion into the B'ville 200 MPH Club.  During the off-season we will review the potential for including AMA records - they must be shown to be as stringent as those currently eligible.  Congratulations to Rocky and His Team - Pat Kinne
