Wilmington Hotel preferences.
« on: June 12, 2015, 12:12:53 PM »
Last year, I attended the June meet and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express.  The place was packed with racers, trucks, trailers, etc.  Racing vehicles were parked all up and down the "strip" in front of the hotel.

This year, I stayed at HIE again, but felt like I had missed the memo or something.  There were only a couple of race trailers on the "strip", and the place didn't have the same level of racing intensity as it did in 2014.

Over the course of the weekend, I heard that most of the racing teams were staying somewhere else, possibly at a newly opened hotel with better rates.

If that's the case, I'm asking for some guidance in terms of where the "new" spot is.  I'm definitely interested in saving some bucks if possible.

It wasn't the Hampton next door.  There was a dog show and the place was full of 100 to 200 pound, smelly, slobbering dogs.  The whole place smelled like wet dogs.  I am going pet-free next year.  Sheesh!  We probably did have a dozen or more racers at the hotel though.
