It's not rocket science Mike, it's only a bunch of solenoids. Just work out what you need to apply & when then hook up a bunch of switches to make that happen. I've done them with switches & relays & also used a ratchet shifter with micro switches.

If I was building a lakester or RMR or such. I might look at an Audi transaxle. 6 speeds. Probably to top two are OD. Very close coupled design if you can deal with the rear overhang.

Hey Rich, I found that Audi box here in South Africa. The company said they'd sponsor me with the box no problem.

I was going to jump on it but I've learned a few things from the wizards here.
I'd have to redesign the chassis. The side shaft location would require shortening the wheel base by about 3 feet and all the hardware would interfere with my headers, waste gates etc.
Real bummer but I don't have the ball bearings to tackle that mod. :-D

I think you could probably squeeze another Cleveland in that 3ft Mike! But seriously, mount it back at axle line & put a shaft between em, it's a rare thing to have too much space in a liner.

I have this trans on loan for this year yet but need to replace it with one or something else for next year. Pics are attached of what it looks like.
This pic where we are holding the calipers was in the early engineering stages but it shows the back of the transaxle. Yeah, it might not be the perfect setup but it does work and we have it fit up and it works.

Could those be "Outlaw" calipers or maybe SSBC?

Neil, Strange as in Strange engineering. They make a lot of drag racing pieces.

Yes correct Strange engineering. The calipers came with the liner. The rest of the stuff is midget or sprint car. The axle was made by a company iGreen Bay as well as part of the machining on the pulleys splines and outside hobbing for belts. The rest we made ourselves.
