"Most importantly we wanted to get the image of bus transport away from being dirty, smelly, and slow."

Ironic, isn't it.

Here in Europe they are taking fuel conservation and greenhouse gas emission reduction measures far beyond anything we are doing in the states.  None of the busses in Paris or London are smoky and smelly like the ones we have in Salem.  The technology to clean them up exists.  We are not using it in the US.

makes is very tough to understand how we cant get the uber efficient diesels they have as commonplace
in Europe and the Australia for example...here in the US due largely to so called EPA standards...

tough for me to understand...!!

our family also made it to Europe, and our rental was crazy amazingly fuel efficient, small turbo diesel engine, mercedes convertible, quiet, powerful.....
sporty, fun to drive etc

A British and current world record for a service bus on CNG, so if any Bus Company in the USA wants to go faster, please bring it on. How about a lap of Indy or Talladega?

You got some sloppy, smelly kissers there in Oregon?

Stan, Your reply puzzled me but then I realized it was probably just a geographic error.

You see, the Columbia River separates Oregon from Washington and One Run Bob lives on the North side of the river.

That would make him from Washington.

I hope this clears matters up for you,  Don

Don't know how they do things up in backwoods Or but here in So Cal, everything is already fueled by cow farts... er, CNG.  All the buses, trash trucks, taxis, etc.  Hell, even my daily driver Honda Civic is CNG fueled.  You can actually breathe the air down here now.

BTW loved the bus' name: Bus Hound.  And 77mph sounds like a soft record.  I say we get a good US vs Brit rivalry going again and get an LA metro bus up to 80!

Don, the point that Stan was making had nothing to do with the smelly/dirty attributes of public transportation - and nothing to do with geography.

Keep trying. :-D

On the way to World of Speed in 2010 I saw this heading towards Bendover. Bus was broader at the front and narrow at the back! Thought sure it would be running - but not to be.

Yea, I know that Jon.

Wasn't he describing One Run or was it just coincidental?

You know WHAT, Don?  I'm not quite sure what dear Mr. Drury has to do with the subject save that he, indeed, does apparently reside in the state of Warshington.  But that's as it may be.  Okay, Bob -- you're cleared to stay there. :?
