FIM snowmobile record is 210ish. That may alter the thinking.

I think years back someone ran a snowmobile engine in a lakester or liner, Burkdoll maybe ????

We currently are running a snowmobile engine in a Geo Metro. I purchased the car from the original owner, and I have owned/ ran the car since 2006.

There will be another entry this year at speed week in the I/GT class. He will also be running a snowmobile engine.

See you on the salt,
Clay

Clay, what brand of sports car also puts snowmobile engines in one of the autos?  Or is your  bud running in modified sports?

Hope that this answers your question.

Let's see . . .

You can run a motorcycle engine in a car.
But you can't run a car engine in a motorcycle.

You can run a snowmobile engine in a car.
Can you run a car engine in a snowmobile race?

Back in the 1980's I built a M/C powered by a Can-Am snowmobile engine for LSR.....SCTA/BNI would not allow it to run .....time only.............still got it sitting here in the shop....should be very fast....................Oh, well........................................................................

This is a pic of Darrel Zipper's lakester that he ran in the early 2000s and it had a 440 cc snowmobile engine with the variable belt drive in it. I don't think it ever ran over 120 but it was sure neat. Carbon fiber body and the wheel covers were carbon fiber and he used the steel disc from a disc plow for the mold!! Would love to see this car with a GSXR of some size in it.

Mike,
I stand corrected, thanks! Still a really neat lakester (although I am not a flat bottom fan) with what could be lots of potential.

Would ECTA or LTA allow a snowmobile to run at Wilmington or Loring? I know snowmobiles are pretty common at dragstrips--would the machine's rear track hold up for a mile or a mile and a half of pavement?
LTA   G/BGALT Record (1 mile)     143.313
LTA   G/BGALT Record (1.5 mile)  148.321
LTA   F/PRO Record (1 mile)         114.668
