El Mirage Clean-Up
« on: May 03, 2015, 11:28:12 AM »
Worked El Mirage clean-up yesterday.  The lakebed was closed, saw some dampness in spots.  It ought to dry out in the next two weeks.

We worked on the far west side of the lakebed.  We were directed to take a dirt road from the ranger station several miles south of Bishop, then back to the enclosed dirt road by Calloway's.  There's talk that will be the route in and out from now on.  I wonder why we would have to do that when, I'm sure, the campers with their toy-haulers will probably enter from the east.  It's an ugly rumor -- hope it's not true.

Picked up lots of little pieces of crap.  Were told not to pick up rusted cans, certain kinds of glass, etc. that might be deemed artifacts.  It was hard to age-date the trash.

Ditto on the "thanks", Stan.

I may wish to attend the May 17 (Sunday) part of the upcoming meet,
providing the lakebed is dry enough.

Any idea about which end of the lake to enter from, as a spectator?

I was there twice before, each time entering from the eastern end.

Thanks for any info or referral to a good source of this info.

You have to enter at the East end, ranger station. You purchase your day pass at that location.
