Thank's everyone.

This is the first time the SCTA is organizing the Mojave Mile. All our friends from Europe/Japan and Down Under told us that they had a blast, we are thankful to the SCTA and all the volunteers for creating such a professional event within less than 10 days.

Bud Hare:

169.331 record (2-way average) on unblown, pushrod 750cc Triumph on fuel, special construction with center steering front end, at Speed Week 1969

You are closer than any of the rest of us ever got!  I think you should be able to do it on the longer salt course.

(actually, Don Sliger did a single pass at just over 170 on an unblown 700cc pushrod Enfield on fuel (drag style frame) but never put the two-way record above high 150s.)  Those are the fastest pushrod runs I can remember, though there might have been others.

Keep at it....we are enjoying your build!

Hi Jim, thanks for the info.

I believe the Bud Hare bike is under the rider name:
Jeff Gough - 750cc  169.331mph 8/23/1969
The bike was a Partial Streamline class, APS-A

You're right 1 mile is very short and my bike was still pulling hard at the end like nuts, I couldn't even stay wot because of the bumps. My exit speed was 172+
Picture is taken right after my top speed run on the return road.

No Bonneville this year, but I entered a photo competition with a picture I took in 2013 at the AMA event.
There were more than 200 entries and my picture won.
This bike is also my M class bike that holds the El Mirage 650cc APS-VG without a fairing and the A-PF records.

Well done (again) Alp
Tiny (in OZ)
I would prefer to make horsepower, rather than buy, or hya it, regardless of the difficulties involved , as it would then be MINE

That would make a good "poster child" for why we are not racing this year.

Next week is the SCTA October EM meet, I was wondering how fast I have to go to be the fastest 650 naturally aspirated open class bike, not just in the vintage or pushrod classes also in the unlimited class (ohc). As far as I know 179+ is the magic number?

Here is something nobody has seen on a sit-on 650 pushrod engine motorcycle.
Naturally aspirated open class with no fairing,,

https://youtu.be/Ioh3hwPcY5c

Yes, it is faster than the 650/750cc pushrod engine special const partial streamline classes.
Enjoy!

Alp,
You and your Triumph engine land speed bike are all wrong!

The motor's undersquare  bore to stroke is antiquated

The stroke is too long for sustained high RPM

The hemi head combustion chamber has too much surface area

The camshaft lift can't be enlarged because the cam will hit the tappet guides

The rocker arm ratio can't be altered because the pushrods will hit the pushrod tubes

Even if you could improve valve lift, the exhaust valve would hit the intake valve at overlap

The 2 bearing crankshaft is too weak

Your carburetors are dinosaurs

Your exhaust is too long

Your intakes are too short

Your bike is too high

You are too big for it!  You look like a gazelle on a bicycle!

You should get a smaller rider to go really fast!

BSA RULES!
