We lose another noteable WWII Veteran.
« on: April 04, 2015, 07:23:26 AM »
I am saddened to report that after a couple of years of very poor health and intense decline, we lost my mother-in-law on Sunday, 3/29/2015.

Second Lieutenant Carmen Maria Lozano Dumler was the first WAC to enlist directly from Puerto Rico.   Also one of the first WAC officers from Puerto Rico.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmen_Lozano_Dumler

I guess when you have 4 pages on Wikipedia about you, multiple Wikipedia entries about your service unit and compatriots, 7 children, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and have lived to 93.5 years, you have had a pretty good life.   Survived by her husband of 69 years, Captain Joseph Dumler, OSS, (retired)

Final resting in Abraham Lincoln National V/A Cemetery.

Tom Brokaw is right.   They were the "Greatest Generation".

May she rest in peace, Mark.  Nancy and I send our condolences to your entire family.  It sounds like she was a cool lady - and not afraid to stand in front of the line to help.  Thanks, ma'am.

Mark, my condolences to your family from our racing family.  Sounds like you had great in-laws and her husband knew she was a "keeper."  We should all be so lucky as to live a long and full life.

Mark.....Please add my Best Wishes and Sincere Condolences to the list. I buried my Mother a week ago in New Zealand, having lost her March 17th. Even though the `specs` may vary, we look on our parents,( and Mothers especially for us`fellas,) as Giants, almost Immortal. As it should be.....

To all who have viewed this thread, and especially to those who have responded:

Thanks to you all for your kind thoughts and words.   Our whole family has been comforted by your compassionate & thoughtful responses.

She was indeed a special and selfless person, the likes of which, the family will not see again, for many a generation.

Kindest regards,
Mark

Carmen. . .

Vaya Con dios. . . .

You earned the trip and helped all of us baby boomers sleep unperturbed for decades.

We, the protected, will never really know what it mean to fight for freedom.

I believe some Baby Boomers made it to Viet Nam.  Whether that was a "Fight for Freedom", I'm not sure.
