2015 results
« on: April 03, 2015, 09:02:13 AM »
I've just heard from Stuart Hooper who managed 183.702 MPH on his Velocette.  Sounds like there were some exciting times on the salt, but not without drama.  Hopefully more of the participants will chime in with the straight stuff.

Thanks for posting that link.  If you have a batch of photos I'd be happy to put them in our Photos gallery - like happened to the Swedes just the other day.

Couple of guys went over 200 in naked NA classes too first for that too
Salt was the best i have ever seen, damp enough to not get dusty , but otherwise hard

Hi Guys,

We had a fantastic meeting in our 1982 F100. We ran in D/PP with the 301ci Windsor. Our team had 4 drivers, Stephen Bridge and myself Chris Hanlon. Stephens son Richard and my wife Kathryn.
By Thursday conditions were near perfect. Salt was the best we had in over a decade and the weather was perfect, cool mornings and mild days.

I ran the best speed of the week for the team with a 169.332mph to the 3 mile. The F100 ran straight like a locomotive and felt great to drive.

Cheers Chris

Does the lake suffer any salt depletion from mining?

Never had any salt mining, the composition is very different to what we see at Bonneville

I heard a few weeks ago that potassium is a binding agent in salt, no idea how accurate that is but from what i see at each venue it could be right
it was a bit wet at the lakes edge , water laying in wheel ruts coming from below , within a day big salt crystals were forming in the water

The entire Lake is a National Park so this helps protect it from mining interests into the future as well.

That's plenty fast for an F-100.  Those things are not very aerodynamic.  It must put out some good power.  Nice job.
