Motorcycle windscreen question
« on: March 27, 2015, 12:13:34 PM »
Hello, how about some advice for the new dude? How thick and what material for a windshield on a bike?
The only ones available (92 gsxr 1100) are .125 acrylic, I'm thinking that's not thick enough......I'm thinking .187 polycarbonate......

http://bikescreen.com/     Ask Lief Gustafsson.  He has the ability to make just about anything including customs.  I haven't asked him questions like yours -- but he's so dang easy to work with that I'd be surprised if he won't give you good information.

C. Bailey makes the thickest ones I've seen. You'll need deep pockets for a custom poly screen.

That's not necessarily correct, Sofaguy.  The last time I heard about a screen from Leif -- it was still the $100 that I paid a while back.  And mine was custom - he helped design it.  don't be afraid to ask him.

I run whatever Gustafson uses. I am sure he would have one for the 92gixxer. I just got a custom WS from him and it was around 200$, it is really big.

Thin screens have less optical distortion.  This is important 'cause you are looking through them at an angle.  The Gustaffson screens are thin and this is not a bad thing.  One of them is on my bike and I am very happy with it.

Oh, I forgot - it was for my 2008 Goldwing and was as big as a barn door!  :-D
