I offered Steve a free appointment with my physical therapist, maybe Matt can get him to bend in the middle!

:?NOT SOLD :? Turned out to be quite an elaborate fraud, luckily I took my credit union's advise and opened a special to receive my "wire transfer" otherwise these NASCAR clowns might have cleaned me out.

Good save, Tom. I'm doing something similar. I'm selling 1/8 scale P-38 Belly Tanks on ebay and I set up a seperate bank account just for paypal so I'm covered.  Wayno

If it's NASCAR, they're cheating . . .

Probably your first clue?  :-D

Yes, most good bankers will advise you to have a separate account for internet activities, ebay, paypal, etc.    I've had a separate "wire transfer" account from the outset of my parts sales business.

It's too bad things like this happen, but glad you are "safe" and not "sorry".

The internet is mostly a good thing, but there are those out there, lurking, and waiting to screw over the unwary . . . . . . .

Was it really the NASTY Car guys or an impostor? You would think they would avoid anything that could give bad news for there sponsors. :?

We have decided to man up and make this car work for us. It will be less stressful than dealing with people who think they want to go land speed racing. Part of my hesitation was not having the skill level that this car was built with, but Richard Chapman said he would give us some help with that. Steve, for his part, has been trying really hard to get in that cockpit, if we can't make him bend any better than we will redo the drivers compartment so he can get in there, times a wasting!

perfecto, its always about doing the best you can with what you have,
that often leads to innovation, and that is where great outcomes are born

Well, it might have worked for me, but not for Steve, part of the problem was you have to want to get in the car in the first place. It is gone, sucked into the black hole of Scott Guthrie Racing via one Jeff Dalling of Elko, NV.
Thanks to everyone, especially Tom Burkland, for all the encouragement and advise. I'm bummed that this car did not work out for us and am kind of at a loss for our next step. I might have to start building the Diamond T roadster that has been in the back of my mind for a while now, I've got the grill, just need the rest of it!

We sold the car, divided up the money, and thought that we would each get a nice sensible 150 club car to play with and take turns running them every other year. I was looking at a Mazdaspeed Miata when by chance I stumbled upon this 70+ year old So-Cal dirt track racer that was in my price range. Although it now wears a Track-T body, it can easily be converted to a VOT car, my favorite class. Has an alky burning 286" Hillborn injected '49 Merc with a lion's heart,  I think Wayno will approve. As a kicker, they said they would deliver it, should be here in a week or so, stay tuned.
