There have been faster vehicles on the salt, but nothing as ferocious as the Phoenix.

That truck was Carl's ultimate therapy. When he was in it and driving the salt speedway, nothing hurt, everything was possible and everyone cheered him on.

A dear departed soul who single-handedly exemplified the spirit of land speed racing in ways that would often take dozens to emulate.

Can you see that big grin?

I can and so very happy I got to call him "friend."

I always liked to run 2 or 3 cars after him, the black smoke was easy to follow to the 5:cheers:
