Vintage year
« on: February 15, 2015, 03:29:27 PM »
I am looking to come to Bonneville with a vintage motorcycle.  What is the latest year for a motorcycle to be considered vintage.  Thank you.

1955...........For the production class, the same model may qualify if it was produced with NO changes for an advantage over the next few years.  Read the AMA / BSMT rule book before proceeding.
2011 AMA Record - 250cc M-PG TRIUMPH Tiger Cub - 82.5 mph
2013 AMA Record - 250cc MPS-PG TRIUMPH Tiger Cub - 88.7 mph
2018 AMA Record - 750cc M-CG HONDA CB750 sohc - 136.6 mph
2018 AMA Record - 750cc MPS-CG HONDA CB750 sohc - 143.005 mph
2018 AMA Record - 750cc M-CF HONDA CB750 sohc - 139.85 mph

Below is the actual wording from the 2014 supplemental regulations; which have not changed in this class for 2015.
Also, see link to rulebook......  http://bonnevillespeedtrials.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/AMA-LSGC-SR-2014-v11-1.pdf

"12. J. VINTAGE GASOLINE (VG)
The engines production date shall be prior to 1956. Flathead,
OHV, and two-stroke engines shall retain the O.E.M. heads,
cylinders, and crankcases originally installed at time of factory
production. Above components produced after 1955 and exact
reproductions may be legal in vintage class if they offer no
competitive advantage. Documentation may be required to prove
authenticity of vintage design. Allowable overbore in this class is +
.050- inches over OEM standard bore to remain in displacement
class. Further increased displacement beyond the class limit shall
place the motorcycle in the correct class.
GASOLINE ONLY. See Chapter 2, paragraph 2.F."
