Convertible rules MGB
« on: February 04, 2015, 07:21:33 PM »
I have a little MGB that I would love to run at Loring this summer.  I am a bit unsure on the rule for a roll bar?  Do convertibles have to have a full cage or will a roll bar (4 point) behind the seat suffice?  There is a nice bar that is two hoops that is SCAA approved but was unsure if that would meet the standard for land speed?

Thanks for helping me clarify this rule.

Joe

Hi, Joe.  Welcome to LSR.

MG has a history in record setting cars going back to 1930.  Gardner, Eyston, Moss, Hill . . .

Can't speak for the Loring rules, but SCTA requires a cage.

Little?  MGB

That's my land yacht!

If they let you run, post up your speed - I'm very curious.

Good luck!

Well, I guess we're making a LOT of progress . . .

As I understand it, a convertible needs a 4 point cage to race at any speed under 135. To go over 135, you need a 6 point cage and to go over 150, you need a full cage.
