Spring event 2015
« on: January 19, 2015, 05:20:14 PM »
I got this from Tim just a few minutes ago.  Let's see if I can post it before he does.

Hello Racers!
I hope that everyone’s winter is going well. It has been really cold up at the track this winter so we just wanted to warm all of you up with an announcement.  We will be holding a spring event this year! We will tech on April 24th and race the 25th and 26th.   Hope that helps cure the wintertime blues.  So, if you think you were behind getting ready for summer, you better call FedEx.

Cold air = fast cars & bikes.

All the best

Tim

Looking real good. Snow pack is very low. Some bare spots here and there in fields and such. Was almost 40 today.

My bike isn't ready ,so it's gonna be July...I'm the class record holder at Ohio  and coming to LTA for the first time in July. Is there head winds like at Ohio?

That is tough to call.  We have had head wind on Saturday and then tail wind on Sunday on the same weekend

I looked on the site but could not find a schedule.  How late in the day do runs take place?

Thanks,

We usually go until everyone's had enough.  I think it was the Harvest event2013, one guy had 27 runs?  Jesse knows, I'm sure he'll pipe in...

Carl and I did 30 runs on his Harley, and that included stopping to take parts of, adjustments, etc. 35 runs in one weekend is possible

We run until everyone is done or darkness, whichever comes first.

To All,

We are getting ready for the long ride out East for the Spring event at Loring.....Bringing the 240Z F/GT car and Our G/GS streamliner.

For what its worth, it would appear we are the first Streamliner to make a pass at Loring? That will be a pretty neat honor.....

The funny part is when I was 12-14 years old I used to run my go cart up and down the airport runway in Northwestern Ontario.....Nestor Falls to be exact. Now I'm an AARP member and still playing with cars at an airport.

Seldom Seen Slim or anyone else from the Midwest that has made the trek to Loring.....

Help deciding route....fastest/shortest route is desired if at all possible....5 mpg is about what we get.... :dhorse:

So starting from Fremont WI. it looks like there is basically three routes (Google Maps)  for us to take one up through the Sioux and across Ontario, Quebec and then cross at Montreal, Or down around Chicago and then through Toronto, Montreal or 100% stay in the states. Looks like shortest route is 300 miles shorter going up through the Sioux rather than staying in the States.
And Tolls how many?
How much trouble is it bringing the race cars up through Canada and back in? I grew up there and it was always a crap shoot who you got for an interviewer and if they thought you should get a full body cavity search or not.....actually both sides Canada and US.
Advice?

Getting into Canada is easy, getting into the states can be tricky. Make sure everyone has passports. They will let you back in obviously without, however it makes it much easier since the law was passed requiring it. Avoid 95 through Boston if you can.  Don't miss the Houlton Maine exit off 95 or you will end up in Canada. Talk to Jim Fischer, he comes from Chicago and could give you some tips. I think Bill Franey is in that area too
