We haven't made the drive to Loring, but your idea of going through the Soo (not Sioux - it stands for Saulte Ste. Marie) -- it's a fine idea and will not only be a bunch more direct - but also have far less traffic than going the Chicago/Detroit route.  At your abysmal 5mpg -- that'll be a big plus.

Entering Canada will be a medium deal -- as long as you have no drunk driving arrests on your record (at least ten years old).  The Canadians are strict about that -- don't ask me how I know.  Paperwork getting in won't be a big deal, I assume, although I've never had a race vehicle with me when crossing.  As Jesse says, though, getting back into US might be more of a challenge.  Again -- have lots of paperwork for everything.  I don't know about hazardous/volatile fluids -- check first.  And by all means -- carry a passport.  That will ease your entry back into the States.  We each keep ours valid and up to date.  These days I just carry the wallet sized one -- but I think that's all I'd need in a situation like yours.  But make sure everyone has one, even if they are not absolutely required.  Terrorists and illegal aliens don't have passports nearly as much as they might have drivers license.  Be prepared!

To put everyone's mind at ease, I received an email from the people at the base today.  Their only concern was having enough time street sweep the entire facility before the event.  I takes about 3 full dry days to do so.  I told them to start with 10'right and 30' left of center and work out from there.  The latest there has EVER been snow on the track is April 20th and we have 14 feet that year.

Better keep burning the midnight oil.

Just curious what happens in the event of rain? Is there a rain date or anything?

Were looking forward to trying our new combination at the spring event. Also planing on helping in tech when need. To get ready we did burn a lot of midnight oil.

General Question,

How many entries are normal for the events? We certainly will try to get as many runs in as possible  :-D

Generally speaking this event will have somewhere in the 50 ballpark. 2 years ago a friend and myself swapped back and forth on a bike and got 30 runs. Most people on bikes stop at around 20 runs. We will run out of racers before daylight.

Run out of racers before daylight?  Wow -- you're so far north that you run by the Northern Lights?  Cool!

Hey all,

Just reading through the threads and see we cant stay over night at LAB.

I could use some help figuring where to stay in Motorhome. I was assuming we would stay there somewhere like at Ohio/Elmo.

We will be rolling in tonight around Midnight if the Motorhome and Trailer behave.... :-D
