Aerofoils on bikes
« on: January 15, 2015, 01:21:17 AM »
"Aerofoil" is in Britain what we call an airfoil on this side of the Atlantic.  A Yamaha TZ750A with them on the front and back is described with lots of pictures in the November/December Classic Racer, an English magazine available here.  It should be on the news stands for another few weeks.

They were banned from road racing.  Why?  They worked.  There was the potential that all racers would need them to be competitive and they would get tangled up in each other when they raced in a pack.  We do not need to worry about this.

The fellow who developed the airfoils was smarter than the average bear.  There are lots of innovative ideas in how he attached them that make a lot of sense after one sees the pictures.
