I thought the plug was good but I offered it up to the 15" Aero
wheel and it isn't round. It's oversize in places which isn't a problem
but undersize elsewhere. Got to build it up and re sand.

I found a piece of Carbon off cut large enough to cover the wheel rim
so I bonded some Balsa tabs to the inner circumference.

This will allow me to bond the Carbon plate to the wood and trim the outer edge to
line up with the metal. Once that's cured I'll reshape the wheel disc and mold it.

The 1mm Carbon plate was bonded to the Balsa lugs
and later the disc was bonded to the plate.

I sanded it flush where needed and filled the bits that were short
on circumference.

Some final finishing is required and a good polish will have the disc ready
for molding.

I measured the dish and it sits at 34mm.

I should have the tool done Tuesday.

Good news for Frank and Joe.

Thanks for the how-to! I have been thinking about this for my wheel too.

Is there an aerodynamic reason for the convex shape, rather than flush with the outside of the wheel?

Don, I go on instinct for the most part but convex is way stiffer than flat. Airplane wings come to mind.
