plans for BMST 2015
« on: December 13, 2014, 11:08:15 AM »
So what are everybody's plans for next year.  Team NRHS plans to bring our usual 2 1350 cc pushrod bikes plus we are working out the details to bring 1 or 2 of the new Erik Buell Racing bikes as well and enter them in FIM 1350 2 cylinder classes.

Something like this:

I really like those Buells.

I will be running the same Yamaha RD400. I have a new engine, that I hope makes more power.
Ride fast, safety last.

Now for something in the slower speeds department......Though not written in stone there is a good chance I may be bringing our 16 year old Grandson to race in 2015.
We are currently in the beginning stages of building a 72 year old H-D engine.
It will be in a specially constructed 4130 Chromoly frame.
For the last year I have been teaching him about the workings of different types of 4 cycle engines,
and he is really having fun learning about engine machining, which he is doing under my guidance.
Engine is now apart and starting to be worked on.
This weekend he will be disassembling a 1970's Yamaha to get the mag wheels (19" & 18") and brakes, plus front forks.
All to be rebuilt and used for this project.
I am a firm believer in "Start 'Em Young".

Thanks Drew, for the musical PS....................Merry Christmas

I'm planning to run the Triumph Cub since it missed any run time in 2014.  The Classic CB750 will get a trip to a dyno-test this spring and hopefully be READY for 2015.
2011 AMA Record - 250cc M-PG TRIUMPH Tiger Cub - 82.5 mph
2013 AMA Record - 250cc MPS-PG TRIUMPH Tiger Cub - 88.7 mph
2018 AMA Record - 750cc M-CG HONDA CB750 sohc - 136.6 mph
2018 AMA Record - 750cc MPS-CG HONDA CB750 sohc - 143.005 mph
2018 AMA Record - 750cc M-CF HONDA CB750 sohc - 139.85 mph

Not many changes for me, but thanks to dyno time on Dan's dyno, we found 2 more HP.  I will be looking to increase my 650-APS-PG record from 149.894 to the magic (for me) 150!  Is there a hat for that?  After all, it's only a wee little pushrod motor.  I just happen to have a box full of green hats that I could get "150 pushrod club" printed on. Let's hope for better conditions and more run time.

Tom, you can easily start and sponsor a 150 MPH Pushrod Club.  Write the rules to qualify, make hats and prepare for the onslaught of folks submitting their timing slips and record certificates to get their hat.

I thought about that - - until I actually went thru the records and realized I'd have to supply about 50 hats just to satisfy the AMA/BMST record holders!  1350cc and under; not too many.  Over that including the big blown behemoths - - too many to count.

Wait.....  So I may have a chance at joining a club?!  Most clubs won't let me join because of my tattoos and my unorthodox sarcasm.    :-D

I like your style, Stainless.  Well it would be kinda nice if when walking around the pits that someone might perchance realize that, hey, you are a racer because your hat say you went 150mph! I guess that now that I've been coming back for 6 years that about 10 people might recognize me.......well, maybe.  In previous years when I tried to interject my infinite wisdom into their very busy work schedules as they were tearing their motors apart, I sometimes think they just wished I'd go away "you old man".  But last year after we got blown out after my first run, I left my leathers on (lowers, anyway, held up by suspenders as they would otherwise fall off) and everybody was my friend! Go figure!  Posers get all the attention, little old men in street clothes....well you know the story.  So maybe a Green Hat Club with "150mph Pushrod - Under 1500cc normally aspirated" -- might get some attention.

Tattos allowable, sarcasm, maybe (you'll get none of that with me!), but you'll have to go 150mph!

That was my unorthodox sarcasm speaking of sarcasm.   :-)  OK So I'm just a 36 year old dork obsessed with HP and performance.  It might take me a few years before I hit the 150 mark, but I'll do it some day.   8-)
