Hah!  It's already winter in northern Maine?  We're enjoying a late autumn in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  The 4-6" of snow we got last week is almost all gone and there are only flurries in the forecast for this weekend.  No shoveling - - yet.

We got a foot last weekend, it all melted this week. Snowing right now, about 10" due for today. Ground isn't froze yet so we will lose most if not all of it

Snow?  :?

Depending on how you look at it, it's a recreational material that Mother Nature supplies for half the year in some of the more Northerly areas. It may prove to be an annoyance for some drivers, others may see it as a reminder of what the salt looks like.  :-D :-D :-D

Life is an abrasive. Whether you get ground away or polished to a shine depends on what you are made of.

Very true. Living my entire life up here I have become accustomed to it, thus 12" is a dusting, lol. In my 20's I was a f-winter kind of person, I didn't participate in any winter activities. In recent years I have gotten into ice fishing, back country snowmobile riding, etc. It at least makes it tolerable. Plus I love it when people ask about the winters and I can give them the shock factor of sleeping in my ice shack on 30 below nights and such  :-D

I don't especially mind snow - especially as much as Nancy doesn't like it.  We live on the south side of Lake Superior and therefore get lots of "lake effect" snow.  Relatively warm and moist air blows off the lake and to the frozen ground surface.  As the air cools the moisture "precipitates" and falls as snow.  It takes a few miles of cold ground for the snow to get going really well.  We live about 15 miles inland from the lake shore, and we're also about 600' elevation higher.  Higher elevation means colder - so more lake effect snow.  To summarise, when the shore line folks -- the city of Marquette, for instance - gets maybe six inches - we'll be honored with 12 or 18 inches at home.

But we have good stuff about being close to Lake Superior, in that the lake, even while very cold, doesn't freeze over more than once every ten or fifteen years (last time was this past February and March), so that humongous reservoir of "warm" water keeps us from the bitter cold.  We might have a few nights when it reaches 15 below zero, but more often none -- and only some when it gets to or below -10F.

It's all relative, see?  And, as many folks up here say, 15 feet of snow helps keep out the riff raff. :-D :-D

Doesn't work - I've been to both the UP and Montana in the winter.

Chris, what's the color scheme of the new engine?  What size emblem/plaque does it need?

Given this topic, maybe it should say, "Flexible Flyer" - or better yet, "Rosebud" . . .

Slim, I'll be in touch on that.
