Using a laptop outdoors
« on: September 16, 2014, 04:07:07 PM »
Hi all,
     At El Mirage I have a heck of a time using my laptop to download and view the data recorder files. No trailer, no sun shade, just me and the Dell leaning on the tonneau cover of the roadster. I have seen the three sided box affairs but I am blinded by the light reflecting off of me as much as what comes in from above and the sides. I have also seen a 1950's radar scope type enclosure with about an 5" x 8" opening to look through made from nylon and wire springs that pops it into shape. Anyone had any experience with any of these or other solutions?

A  Bonneville the Vesco team set the lap top in a card board box, seems to work pretty well.

Jim;

There are "sunlight-readable" laptop screens made for the military but they are expensive!

I've seen quite a few folks with a towel over their head and laptop.....Simple and cheap!

That sounds like my kind of solution, gotta find one of those old red flannel fender covers I have around somewhere
