The trip in from Lands End seemed a "little" better today but still had deep water in several areas.
It also seemed better this afternoon as the temps were in the upper 80's/low 90's helped to dry the water.
Weather was absolutely spectacular again today! Warm temps, few clouds and plenty of sunshine.
Again, met several more members from here and again REALLY cool to put a face with a name/ID.

Here is my Google+ link of some of today's bikes and cars in impound, record runs, staging lanes and under way on both courses!

Today was my last day here and the WoS has been WONDERFUL!!!!!   I'll probably do this again next year!
The BEST part of all this was to see Chris and Steve get there respective records.....GREAT GOING GUYS!

As usual, I hope you enjoy the pics!

I stand corrected.  He was outfitted in formula 1 garb.  Hugh Coltharp (USFRA treasurer, works at Land's End) said the guy got to Land's End and wouldn't pay to go on the salt to see the event.  He was extra-grumpy and rude and left.  I hear he evidently decided to drive around the end of the pavement and the "pay gate" and save himself some money -- showing the USFRA that he was better than them.

Hmm, let's see.  he saved the twenty bucks of a one day pass, but spent how many hundreds getting towed out?

I hear he wouldn't speak to anyone after he was freed.  Grouch!

What did you think, Mister guy all dressed in a faux Nascar outfit.  Did you really think that new-style Camaros are just as good as an old Toyota Land Crusher -- drive through anything?

Jon, where do these guys come from? By refusing to pay the modest $20 fee, he robs USFRA of much needed funds to sponsor race dates so this idiot has a place to come see some very fast cars. I be even the F1 community was glad to see him move on. I wonder if he ever pulled such a stunt at a F1 event? Bums rush comes to mind.

Hey, is there any site I can get race logs for the 7th and 8th?

Nice photos, is that a Mitchell B-25 in the flyover?

Here are 4 pics of the Maid in the Shade B-25 that my wife snapped at the Wendover Air Show last weekend:

We were on the short course on Saturday and Sunday, back with our Opel to redeem ourselves after burning through a piston in 2012 and going home early, but not early enough to prepare a new motor for the following weekend's road race. I got photos from the short course and after we finished, from the long course on Sunday.

I've posted them to our FB page at - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.932801133400711.1073741844.192201637460668&type=1

Ignore the first dozen or so photos.

A few examples.

Getting there was half the fun.

Bill Ward's El Camino

Our car, a 24 Hours of LeMons road racer. Definitely not a salt flats car.

Sunday morning.

It's a Beetle.

Black Salt's car, just before they ran into some trouble.

My favorite photo, of our car, naturally.

I am pretty dumb at posting stuff, but here are some Team Fat Azero Racing pix from our 1st trip to the salt on 4 wheels.  Don & I are LSR (mostly asphalt) motorcycle guys so everything was new.

A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Tom Burkland & Rex Svoboda (TFA Mentors) for massive, detailed, untiring, persistent technical & logistical advice and unceasing good humored encouragement.

On Sept 23, 2013, Stainless Steele (TFA Instigator) let us know a virgin B Gas Lakester was available in Missoula.  We quickly bought it from Chas Kaparich and had it delivered to Houston on Oct. 26. It was then heavily "tweaked" by my Partner (and fabricating whiz) Don Davila. He stretched the cabin/engine bay 22", re-jiggered the rear axle, fabricated a new canopy and a host of other work.  Allied Wheel's Greg Mulkey built custom aluminum "Raceline Bonneville" wheels to give us zero scrub radius.   This "Just In Time" build finally went to the dyno immediately before Speed Week.

TFA Racing on the salt

TFA:  Bill Kelly, Don Davila, Karl Gunter, Jake Peters, Brother Bob Sellers.
The medal was given to us for bringing a drop tank lakester to WOS

TFA Pit Frenzy

TFA Mentors Tom Burkland & Rex Svoboda

Belting Don in

Don after his 1st licensing pass = happy boy!

Don with his 1st ticket = D license

TFA in grid on Tues noon for our last (8th) pass of the meet

Stainless & Karl & Don at about the 6 after KDG last pass

I was wondering if driving a car is as much fun as riding a bike
(now I know)

Karl

PS: we cannot forget the TFA Photog & General Counsel, Jessica Gunter
( the 1 = completion of 1st licensing pass)
